Peace One Day
How to unite Charleston’s many cultures to celebrate the United Nation’s International Day of Peace? Throw a party, complete with bands, poets, speakers, a global kids’ village, a soccer tournament, and an art show. Add booths for nonprofits and food and craft vendors, display vintage vehicles painted by artist Jeffrey Fitzharris (hint: they look different through 3D glasses!), and power the festival by solar energy, with compost and recycling bins for added sustainability. The result: a second annual event you won’t want to miss. Brittlebank Park, Fishburne St. & Lockwood Blvd. Saturday, 1-6pm. Free. (770)235-4660, www.myspace.com/charlestonpeaceoneday
