Event Details

From about 1825 to 1870, the Hudson River School artists vividly captured rural American landscapes, primarily in the Northeast. These oil-on-canvas scenes present an idyllic view of man and nature living in harmony (seeAutumn Afternoon, Greenwood Lake above). Former College of Charleston president Lee Higdon and his wife, Ann, share pieces from their spectacular collection with the Gibbes. Gibbes Museum of Art, 135 Meeting St. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, 10am-5pm; Wednesday, 10am-8pm; Sunday, 1-5pm. $12; $10 student/senior/military; $6 ages four-17; free for child under four.
