With a panel full of highly-acclaimed novelists sitting before you, it may be difficult to muster up an appetite for anything other than books during the Third
Annual Authors Luncheon (benefiting the Trident Literacy Association and a minority scholarship at the College of Charleston).

The fundraiser invites Mary Kay Andrews, Billie Letts, Bret Lott, and Mary Alice Monroe to dish on their latest novels through questions moderated by famed wordsmith South Carolina Poet Laureate Marjory Wentworth. Following the lunch discussion, participants can peruse the silent auction featuring, golf lessons, restaurant certificates, original artwork, and more. Whether or not bidding is your forte, be sure to purchase a book from the authors themselves and nab some autographs in the process. “This event has grown every year because of the excellent feedback we’ve received from the Charleston area,” says Wild Dunes’ managing director Frank Fredericks, who hosts the luncheon. The smart fundraiser has inspired droves of participants in the past, and those involved are hopeful that together, Charlestonians and authors can raise even more than last year to continue to successfully “contribute to the education and lives in our community,” adds Fredericks.
