Emanuel Ax

Part of the Gaillard Center's Director Series and Classic Great Performance Series, classical pianist Emanuel Ax performs works from his broad repetoire. Currently a Portland native, Ax grew up in Winnipeg before moving to New York City where his musical career took off in earnest. A winner of multiple awards including the Avery Fisher Prize, Ax is a champion of contemporary composers. With works by John Adams, Christopher Rouse, and Melinda Wagner on the docket, Ax's musicality and grandiose performance style is sure to make for an evening of subtle sophistication. The Gaillard Center, 95 Calhoun St. Tuesday, 7:30pm.
