McCrady's Tavern

Charleston Peninsula

The latest incarnation of the long-standing McCrady’s (established in 1791) is a more casual, yet upscale tavern imagined by chef Sean Brock. Today, the ever-studios chef is harkening back to pre-Depression-era dishes, infusing them with complex modern techniques and some tongue-in-cheek twists (such as oyster mignonette served in a perfume atomizer). Don't leave the revamped space (goodby, enclosed purple booths) before trying “A Pie Called Macaroni,” a recreation of Thomas Jefferson’s recipe with, of course, a Brockian spin.
