It seemed like alchemy: Charleston Fashion Week attendees looked fresh-faced and eager to forge through more runway shows with little more than Red Bull and hairspray fueling their attendance at the fourth night of high-octance action beneath the tents in Marion Square. The parade of the fashion tribe made for great people watching during the pre-show hour, but everyone grabbed a seat as the seductive, albeit robotic, emcee gave the deejay and models their cue. The coveted first row was populated by media, major underwriters, and a Mughelli—Ovie, that is. MGMT provided the repetitive, throbbing baseline, but it was Kayne's Flashing Lights that played on my mental reel. The photography pit was a densely populated square of prime real estate at the end of the runway, and it was hopping as shutterbugs jostled for just the right shot.

Citing charity as the ultimate "glamorous act," Charleston magazine style editor Ayoka Lucas welcomed the Center for Women, one of three official charities associated with CFW 2010. During the break between runway shows, attendees migrated to accessories lounge, where the staff and volunteers affiliated with the Center dispersed information about its outreach, which includes 110 different programs annually that reach more than 6,000 women. Impressive!

There was not a fashion-fatigued person was in sight at the finale! Everyone was ready to strike a pose, and the Lowcountry AIDS Services' red carpet was the perfect place to rock out. Featuring the hand-painted handiwork of Philip Hyman, the step-and-repeat had a line of dazzling people waiting for their turn in front of the paparazzi. The amateurs proffered plenty of hands-on-cocked-hips and Zoolander attitude, and Charleston Picture Company snapped more than 1,000 frames of this see-and-be-seen perch.

Inside, the main runway tent had been beautifully transformed by Heather Barrie and her  Gathering event design team. Borrowing from the accent color emblazoned on this month's cover of Charleston magazine, the room was awash in red. From the sundry styles of lacquered chandeliers to the illuminated stage truss, an auspicious florid hue abound.

Guests stood ten deep, elbow-to-elbow, as a slew of action lit up a physically shortened runway. Larika Page was crowned 2010 CFW emerging designer. Half the room stood in slack jawed awe while the other half cheered wildly as hip hop violinist Daniel D. turned his classical instrument on its ear with wildly creative interpretations of hip hop anthems. And last year's emerging designer winner Marysia Reeves—a real life runaway success story—sent a dozen models down the runway in her sensual swim suits. Since her appearance at Charleston Fashion Week 2009, retailers Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters picked up her line. After the Atlanta-based dance troupe Glam Rock Soul turned on the crowd with a seductive interpretation of "what it means to be a woman," the crowd turned on the dance floor and rocked out for the rest of the night.
