1 1/2 oz. Madeira (Rare Wine Co. Historic Series Madeira Charleston Sercial Special Reserve suggested)
3/4 oz. cognac or brandy
1/2 oz. simple syrup (recipe follows)
Chilled coffee, to taste
Orange twist, for garnish

For the simple syrup:
(Makes 3 cups)
1 cup sugar
2 cups boiling water
2 Tbs. almond extract
2 Tbs. vanilla extract
2 Tbs. hazelnut Teeccino
Zest of two oranges


Add ice to footed mug. Pour in Madeira, cognac or brandy, and simple syrup. Add coffee. Stir to blend. Garnish with orange twist.

Pour sugar into boiling water. Stir until combined. Add extracts and Teeccino. Steep until cool. Strain and refrigerate for up to a week.
