Opening Reception of Saltworks by Motoi Yamamoto

The Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art welcomed Japanese artist Motoi Yamamoto and celebrated the opening of his exhibit, a featured presentation of Spoleto Festival USA, with an opening reception on Thursday, May 24.

Matoi Yamamoto's drawings were on display in the adjoining gallery space.
Yamamoto did a 7 day residency with the Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art to create this installation.
The installation, which spanned the entire space of the gallery, was constructed with table salt.
The interlocking salt shapes combine to create a larger organic form.
