A young builder takes on his own Riverland Terrace cottage with a one-man, room-by-room rehab

open bar: After joining the kitchen to the dining room, Colin built all-new lower cabinetry, added open shelving and beadboard, and replaced the appliances. A trio of windows open to a floating bar on the adjacent back porch.
Fresh take: Colin Regan’s interior renovation includes addition of a built-in window seat (left), brick mantel detail stretching up to the ceiling, and wood floors treated to reflect a natural driftwood hue.
Indoors out: The screened porch was designed to function just like interior space, with three heavy-duty fans to keep it cool year-round. Tile floors, a cathedral ceiling with exposed wood beams, and an iron chandelier mimic an indoor aesthetic.
