Re-Enactment of the Battle of Secessionville
Every November, reenactors from across South Carolina gather at Boone Hall to recreate the Battle of Secessionville—the defeat of the only Union attempt to capture Charleston in June 1862. While the battle actually took place on James Island, get a taste of what life was like in 19th century Charleston as you marvel at hundreds of reenactors reliving the fight. Shop sutler row, an historical line of boutiques, for items such as homemade root beer, clothing, and trinkets, and learn a little history while benefiting the Confederate Heritage Trust. Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens, 1235 Long Point Rd., Mount Pleasant. Saturday, 3pm; Sunday, 2pm. $19.50; $17 senior citizen/military/AAA member; $9.50 ages six-12; free for child under six.
