Event Details

New Music Collective is a nonprofit that aims to educate and inspire the public through their composing, creating, producing and promoting of new music.  Their efforts are to emphasize local artists in the Charleston community and expose Charleston to international sounds. In 2006, NMC collaborated with the College of Charleston to create a beautiful concert and now CofC has invited them back for a very special concert celebrating the 2012 John Cage Centennial, honoring the late  musician's 100th birthday. The program features John Cage's inconic piece Credo in Us and works from composers Peter Ablinger, Jo Kondo, and Larry Polanksy. Don't miss this exquisite performance by talented musicians of music important and relevant today complementing the College's Magnetic South Series. Cato Center for the Arts, Room 234, 161 St. Philip St. Friday, 8pm. Free for student with ID; $10 donations suggested. (803)463-2746, www.newmusiccollective.org
