In comedic theater, a name like Bliss means only one thing: misery. Dublin’s Gate Theatre makes a triumphant return to Spoleto with Hay Fever. The four Bliss family members each invite a house guest to their country estate for a nice relaxing weekend, which proves to be anything but. The antics—ranging from desperate cries for attention to misguided kisses and melodramatic tears—leave their visitors reeling with a thesaurus of emotions: infuriated, fazed, disconcerted, wretched, and even hopeless.
