Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series
Think you’ve got what it takes to swim, bike, and run more than 15 miles? Prove it. Sign up for James Island County Park’s leg of the Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series. This signature sporting event is a true test of endurance and strength, and only the fittest make it to the finish line. Strap on your goggles for a 600-yard swim through the park’s 10-acre lake (wet suits optional). Then air dry as you make a 12-mile bike trek and finish strong with a 5K sprint on the asphalt roads and paths of the park. For the even more hardcore: enter the Open/Elite Division, restricted to those who have finished in the top 20 overall in a triathlon. You’ll be guaranteed placement in the first wave and enjoy access to specially designated transition areas. Note, wet suits will not be allowed in the Men’s and Women’s Open/Elite Division. Just want to support your favorite triathlete? Grab a spot by the finish line near the park entrance and cheer them on. The series continues with additional races on July 8 and 29 and on August 12, so sign up soon to secure a spot. James Island County Park, 871 Riverland Dr. Sunday, 7:15am. $60; $55 without T-shirt.
