Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet was founded by Walmart heiress Nancy Walton in 2003. But don’t expect this show to be basic big-box entertainment. The troupe has been described as the “edgiest, coolest ballet company in the country.” Experience works that include UK choreographer Hofesh Schechter’s Violet Kids, “a dance of dark depression set forth in vignettes,” according to the Los Angeles Times; Annonciation, a duet from dance creator Angelin Preljocaj; and Grace Engine from Canadian choreographer Crystal Pite.
