Event Details

Dig into history at Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site and uncover relics from at least 6,000 years past, including clues to the daily lives of Native Americans, European settlers, and African slaves. Archaeology enthusiasts are invited to the park, excavated since 1967, to take part in a day of discovery, which includes presentations on the latest research on South Carolina history. This year’s focus is “public archaeology” where professional archaeologists and preservationists will discuss oral history projects, folklife studies, cultural landscape preservation, and anthropological fieldwork.
