A culmination of 150 Charleston Symphony Chorus singers, more than 60 Charleston Symphony Orchestra musicians, three guest voices, and 28 Nashville Ballet dancers, Carmina Burana is a performance of stunning scale. The ballet, opening with “O Fortuna,” is set to the compositions of German composer Carl Orff. Composed in the 1930s, Carmina Burana is based on a collection of poems written by 11th- to 13th-century theology students. If the sheer size of the performance isn’t enough, the combination of its rich score and masterful choreography is sure to dazzle viewers.
