"Care Work"

Redux Contemporary Art Center presents Charleston-based artist Camela Guevara’s new solo show, “Care Work,” with a special opening reception. Guevara graduated from the College of Charleston in 2010 before attending the Penland School of Crafts for weaving in 2016. Her work honors the economies of low-wage work and homemaking as it explores domestic objects in a new light—for exapmle, she combines pool noodles, shaker lids, and sponges with fiber art and bright colors to depict sewing as unpaid labor. Following the opening on Novermber 30, the exhibition is on view through January 11. Redux Contemporary Art Center, 1056 King St. Friday, 5-8pm. Free. (843)722-0697, reduxstudios.org
