The American Music System, a nonprofit that supports the musical education of Charleston’s youth, hosts its annual benefit concert at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens. Performing at the event is bluegrass outfit Hank, Pattie & The Current, established by North Carolina natives Hank Smith and Pattie Hopkins Kinlaw. Citing Bela Fleck, The Punch Brothers, and Tony Rice as inspiration, the group has roots in the traditional bluegrass style, but delivers a fresh, playful sound that‘s all its own. Snack on oysters and enjoy toe-tapping tunes in Magnolia’s beautiful setting, all while supporting the community’s budding musicians. Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, 3550 Ashley River Rd.
