”A DARK PLACE OF DREAMS”

Three contemporary artists revisit the dark works of Louise Nevelson, a 20th-century artist who led a movement in contemporary sculpting, focusing on striking, monochromatic assemblages. Thirty-five years after the Gibbes last exhibited Nevelson’s work and 30 years following her death, the museum pays tribute to the artist with pieces by Chakaia Booker, Lauren Fensterstock, and Kate Gilmore crafted in everything from rubber tires and shells to paint in motion. Gibbes Museum of Art, 135 Meeting St. Sunday, 1-5pm; Tuesday & Thursday-Saturday, 10am-5pm; Wednesday, 10am-8pm. $15-$6.
